Join Us for the World Premiere of Chinatown Rising!
Come join us for the official world premiere of Harry and Josh Chuck’s Chinatown Rising at the opening night of CAAMFest37, Thursday, May 9 at the Castro Theatre!
Chinatown Rising (https://www.chinatownrising.com/) vividly captures what it was like to be on the front lines as San Francisco’s historic Chinatown neighborhood struggled for self-determination. This inspirational documentary weaves together never-been-seen historical photographs, archival video footage, and intimate current day interviews to chronicle the experiences of key Chinatown community leaders who started an activist movement during 1960s which set the stage for today’s battles for social justice and equality.
This is a project that is near and dear to our heart. The CAA Chinese Chapter hosted a Q & A session with the father-son filmmaking team Harry and Josh Chuck this past November as well as contributed to the Kickstarter campaign that enabled the filmmakers to complete this wonderful documentary. So we are absolutely thrilled to see this wonderful documentary receive the attention it deserves as the film that kicks off this year’s CAMMFest!
